Why QuantDoc exists
Every week, estimators, contract administrators, builders, procurement teams and business owners sit with three or four quotes for the same job and try to work out which one is actually cheapest. The quotes use different units, different GST treatment, different descriptions for the same thing, and different ideas of what’s included. The real comparison happens in a spreadsheet, late, by hand, and the expensive mistakes are the gaps nobody noticed: freight “TBA”, installation excluded on page three, a provisional sum that becomes a real cost.
QuantDoc was built to do that work properly: compare supplier and subcontractor quotations, identify scope gaps, normalise specifications and quantities, uncover hidden costs, and support informed commercial decisions.
How we work
- Every figure has a source. If QuantDoc shows a number, you can see the page and line, or sheet and row, it came from.
- Arithmetic is deterministic. Money, units and GST are calculated with decimal arithmetic in code. AI (Anthropic Claude) is limited to reading documents the standard reader can't, on paid plans and the trial, and its figures are flagged for review.
- Unknown is not zero. When something isn’t priced, we say the comparison is incomplete and show the break-even, rather than declaring a winner.
- Similar isn’t the same. Matching is based on specifications, units and quantities, and every match is classified so you know how much to trust it.
- You decide. QuantDoc highlights possible issues for review. It doesn’t give legal or financial advice, and it never contacts suppliers for you.
