Compare hire quotes on the real cost of the job, not the headline rate.
One hire company quotes per day, another per week, a third per hour with a minimum. One includes the float, another says “TBA”. QuantDoc puts every quote on the same duration and scope, records each assumption it needs from you, and tells you when a comparison can’t be completed yet.

Why hire quotes are hard to compare
Equipment hire pricing is built from several parts that each hire company structures differently. The machine rate is only one of them. There is the rate basis (hourly, daily, weekly or monthly), the chargeable days in a week, minimum hire periods, hour limits and excess-hour charges, delivery and collection by float, mobilisation and demobilisation, fuel, operator costs on wet hire, damage waiver, cleaning and attachments. A low weekly rate with float charges and a five-hour daily cap can cost more than a higher rate that includes them.
QuantDoc extracts the priced lines and stated terms from each quote, with a reference to where they appear, and keeps the cost components separate. The machine rate is normalised to your required duration. Mobilisation, delivery and other components are shown as priced, included, excluded, to be advised or not mentioned. Only when every component your job needs is priced or included does a quote get a complete-scope total.
Assumptions are yours, and they’re visible
Converting 20 days into weeks depends on whether the hire company charges five, six or seven days a week. Converting an hourly rate into a daily one depends on how many hours the machine will run. QuantDoc never fills these in silently. You state the assumption once, it is applied consistently, and every converted figure is marked as estimated with the assumption beside it.
Example 1: weekly rate vs daily rate
Daily → weekly: $520.00/day × 5 days/week = $2,600.00/week Four weeks: $2,600.00 × 4 = $10,400.00 ex GST Weekly quote: $2,400.00 × 4 = $9,600.00 ex GST

Frequently asked questions
Can QuantDoc compare a daily hire rate with a weekly rate?
Yes, once you state how many chargeable days are in a week for this hire. Converting days to weeks depends on the hire terms (five, six or seven days), so QuantDoc never guesses it. The assumption you enter is recorded and shown next to every converted figure.
What about hourly rates and hour limits?
Hourly rates are converted to daily or weekly only with an explicit hours-per-day assumption. If a quote states an hour limit or an excess-hour charge, that condition is shown with the quote’s other terms so you can review it and model your expected usage in a labelled what-if scenario.
How are float, delivery and mobilisation handled?
They’re treated as separate scope components. If one hire company prices mobilisation and another says “TBA” or doesn’t mention it, the comparison is marked incomplete and QuantDoc shows the break-even amount at which the ranking would change.
Does it know whether fuel or damage waiver is included?
Only if the quote says so. Inclusions and exclusions such as fuel, operator, damage waiver, cleaning and insurance are extracted from the document. If a quote is silent, the item is shown as not mentioned, not as included.
Will it tell me if a hire rate is a good price?
No. QuantDoc doesn’t check market rates or consult external pricing. It compares the quotes you upload with each other, on the same basis, so you can see which is genuinely lower for your requirement.
